2. List and describe two other things that have come from the US and gone to other countries that you think have had negative impacts.
For example:
Weapons from the US have had a negative impact in the war in Afghanistan because we gave them weapons in the 1980's that they are using against us now.

We can understand that fast food has been globalized and it is a risk to health and such so it is a disadvantage for that. Since fast food has traveled from the US and other places, there has been an increase in obiesity all over. Two other things that have come from the US that are not necessarily good are drugs because they are very unhealthy and cause lots of bad things to occur and I think some technology made in the US has also become a large distraction for many people both outside and inside the country.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with amy in saying that fast food joints in the US have gone to other countries that are used to eating healthy have now decided it is easier to eat fast unhealthy food rather than prepare a healthy meal by yourself. I would also have to say that we have technology that has made many other countries lazier as the US has become over the years as well.
ReplyDeleteGlobalization of fast food is a disadvantage because it ruins peoples lives and making their lives shorter. One negative impact that came from the U.S. is fast food, it shortens lives and caused obesity. Another thing from the U.S. that caused a negative impact is technology. It has created a lazier world, if you combine fast food with technology you get a lot of lazy and obese countries. Thats a negative impact.
ReplyDeleteHow does the information in this artcile fit into our understandings for globalization?
ReplyDeleteThe info in this article can fit into our understandings of globalization because some of the products that people make could be infected with bad chemicals if someobdy didn't like the united states, they could infect our milk with some product, even if the person lives in the US they could still do the same thing. We should be more aware about what we eat or drink.
How does this article make you feel about knowing where your food comes from?
This makes me feel good about where our food comes from because there hasn't really ever been a big breakout of infected food or drinks so I think that the United States is a good supplier of food and drinks and no country should be afraid of getting a disease from our products.
this article shows and talks about how globilization dosent just have advantages but can have pretty large disadvanteges.
ReplyDeletebad eating habits have globalized with fast food restraunts and are changing traditional eating habits so this type of globalization is obviously negative and it makes me kind of woried that this whole thing is really starting in america with fast food.
ReplyDeleteIt proves that globalization can spread bad things, even things like diets to other areas of the world. I think that nuclear fusion and other nuclear ways have had a definate negative impact, another bad thing is tabocco, proven to cause lung cancer.
ReplyDeleteI dont think that people should be blaming the fast food companies, people dont have to go to mcdonalds they choose to, there are simple ways to not eat foods that have lots of fat. but other than that i agree with amy there are lots of bad things that come from the US but there are some good things that come from it to.
ReplyDelete(p.s. Trucks are killing the earth with all the polution, and we would be better off with out them)
Many diets and ways of eating has formed into one main eating style in certain countries such as Greece. Fast food has made its way all around the world and has shaped bad habits of eating in certain countries therefore meaning it's been globalized. Negative things from the U.S. that have been globalized is nicotine, the addicting drug found in cigarettes. Another is the advancements in technology we've made, resulting in other countries to make not so nice things that are harmful.
ReplyDeleteIn Addition to the last one: More examples of U.S. trends that other countries now have would be like maybe how we use our resources and how much we waste. Other countries may also start to use more and waste more. An excellent example of this is the United States gives off 25% of the carbon dioxide and the rest of the world has to suffer for that. Nowe onto the next article: This article was certainly interesting to read. I believe there is large globalization going on and is clearly seen through this incident. The tainted milk was made and affected babies in China. It was transferred places and may have also affected people in other places because it was a sad event and it may also have been a family member or something else. This article has been eye opening and I will definitly check where my food is from and see if anything has happened in the past with that place or specific food.
ReplyDeleteThe second article fits in with globalization in the fact that this milk could have gotten out and it got around the country of china enough to get 50,000 kids sick and make many citizens of china very angry. It makes me very cautious now of what i eat and very un safe about what i am eating and where it comes from. it also makes me feel safer about the food i eat that comes from wisconsin atleast because i know where the food has been and in most cases how it is processed. I feel that fruits and vegtables are safer to eat but the processed foods are what we need to worry about.
ReplyDeletei understand how more and more people over generations of time have become more and more obese, this would be do to fast food restraunts. Instead of growing our own food and crops which would be healthier and create physical activity we just go out to fast food places and buy and eat what our eyes feel is appealing at the time. Are food choices arent the best but because of companies we are pursauded to go out and eat it or buy it. Are advertising has possibly got out of hand if its causing health risks in the world because it strikes others interests. Its not only the advertisers fault.. the parents can teach their child on what to eat instead of just by them ice cream whenever they cry. Parents can start to change obesity if they wanted.
ReplyDeleteThis article shows how globalization can be a bad thing because it's making more countries obese. The US is a cause of the obesity rates since it started here. Also the US has gave weapons to other countries so if we get in a fight with one of those countries they could fit us.
ReplyDeleteanother negative thing that the us has introduced is cigaretes and technology which are allowing kids to watch tv more often than go outside and playing
ReplyDelete1.This article shoes how the custom of fast food and unhealthy diets has spread and globalized to other nations. There is advantages to the companies making the food, but overal disavantages because people are becoming overweight.
ReplyDelete2. Another instance: Certain automobiles and other technology sources has spread. With the United States Automobile companys not being enough fuel efficent and causing damadge to the enviornment.
Another instance:
1. Fast food afected every body in that area because there was an obviouse health issue because of the fast food. A disatvantage of fast food restaraunts is that all of the smaller restaraunts will go out of buisness because fast food is cheaper. Now everybody hase bad health and cant have the same life stile that they might want if they were health y. The fast food industries seriously have a far-reaching impact because now more of the world have fast food restaraunts and soon the whole world will be involved. :(
ReplyDeleteWe know that fast food mostly came from the United States. With globalization the fast food trend moved to many different countries and areas of the world. With that many other countries have eaten to much fast food and they are beginning to get fat. Another thing the US produced that spred to other countries is bombs, we have produced many bombs, and other countries are also starting to create bombs and that could end us up in a neuclear war.
ReplyDelete1. How does the information in the first article fit into our understandings for globalization?
ReplyDeleteThe first article about recent obesity rates in Greece getting higher is an example of globalization because Greeks used to eat very healthy, but because fast food has been globalized, they're beginning to abandon their old diets to eat fast food.
america shipping candy this has a negative impact on the enviroment. America selling fo;ds that had an issue with the brakes had to be recalled because it could hurt people.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 2
ReplyDeleteThis story affects everyone in a bad way because people got hurt and/or killed. Its aweful that our food comes from a place that doesn't even check the food that they are sending out. They should definatly change their way of producing to quality over quantity. I think if China doesn't change more people will die because of food related problems.
2. Atomic bombs have the whole world in fear and drugs kill people
ReplyDelete2.another issue: Womens article of dressing. In the United States we do not have a stict code of dress and are allowed to wear whatever we wish. In other cultures there is a stict article of clothing you must wear and now with the united states style traveling to other country's there is negativity towards women who do not dress in a particular fashion.
ReplyDeleteArticle Two:
ReplyDelete1. China ships its biproducts throughout the world so this doesn't just effect the chinese but alot the whole nation. This is causing most disadvantages. People are getting ill and not many people are buying the poduct but in the end china will get a stronger food testing system so they will not have this problem anymore
2.Right now i do not care to eat any food that comes from China which is a good majority of our food. If they do not have people countinuly testing there foods and stopping the foods that make people ill i dont want to buy there product. As of this moment i'm disgusted with chinese food and there food testing system.
1. It has efected the whole world and that is how it is conected to globalization and we have given the world the tecnology to nucular warfar and we have given the world drugs.
ReplyDelete2. This fits into globalization because it has afected thousands of people in china. This article makes me feel kinda scared about knowing where my food comes from boacuse if i dont know or I dont look into it i could get hurt and maybe not know.
ReplyDeleteArticle 1- Even though the fast food industry has started in the USA it has spread throughout the whole world, that is how this is globalization, theres even a Starbucks on the Great Wall of China.
ReplyDeleteThe usa has given the whole world tobacco, which is bad becasue it causes about 18% of all deaths in the USA. Another thing we have given the world is Nuclear Weapons, we where the first ones to drop that type of bomb and many countries since have been testing with Nuclear power
Second Article-
ReplyDelete1. This contamination of the milk has affect millions of Chinese people, also this milk could have spread to other parts of the world when the exported it.
2. I am scared to know what is going into my food. China does not have as high of standards as us so many low quality ingredients or fake substitutes, which are cheaper then the real thing, are going into our food. Some of these ingredients could even be harmful to human health but with China's lackadaisical food testing system these products are making to American dinner tables.
2nd article: This shows the disadvantages of globalization because if they would of exported it, it could of got a lot more people sick. Im kind of scared to know where my food comes from now because it could make me sick or die.
ReplyDeleteArticle 2.
ReplyDelete1. I personaly believe that In the case of the tanted milk from China, everyone was affected everybody buys somthing from China that has milk in it. One of the main problems was the fact that China didn't want to look bad during the Olimpics so they didn't do enything about the issue so more and more people got sick. Which will creat a better futer for our children.
2.This definetly makes me woried about what is in my food not just from diffrent countries but what is made here in the US
artical 2:
ReplyDeleteit shows that globalization can be a very bad thing because think of what would have happened if they had shipped that all over the world. and It is very scary to think if that could happen once then it could happen again and the same thing come happed only worse.
Article 1:
ReplyDelete1. This shows globalization because fast food has been spreading more world wide each day, it gives the advantage of more food variety but unfortunatly also gives the disadvantage of making people obsese. It turned this once very fit, very healthy town into an obese society.
2. A thing that the US has made that has made a bad impact is the atom bomb. We created it, and now it has turned into one of the most deadliest threats people can put on each other. Another thing that I think, in some ways, that has had a bad impact is technology. New technology has been forcing to forget what they are use to so they can stay up to date. It forces people to constantly makes people have to learn new ways to do their job "better" even though it could be just as easy for a mistake to happen.
Article 2:
ReplyDelete1. This shows globalization because little children are getting sick from the tainted milk that was shipped all over China. And is causing a big impact with over 54,000 children hospitalized and at least three dead.
2. This article actually scares me somewhat seeing how with so much globalization happening with our foods, that we can't ever be completely sure what's all in our food and drinks.
the second article shows about globalization is if a certain product or group of products is bad or not to the standards of what it should be and thanks to globalization can be spread out world wide so now not only the Chinese get affected by their tainted milk but the world.
ReplyDeletefor the second question of the second article.
ReplyDeleteMe knowing where my food comes from makes me feel safe. Also if their is something wrong with the food or drink i consume I am most likely to be informed not to eat it unlike China who tried keeping it under the rug.
Article 1
ReplyDelete1. This all started in american and its seems like noone wants to be like an american. It seems like that the fast food started here and it spread to europe and alot of kids in greece and stuff are overweight or obese.
2.America has given almost everyone in the world tobacco, which is bad becasue it causes about 1/5 of all deaths in the US. Another thing we have given the world is Nuclear Weapons, we where the first ones to drop a nuke and many countries have been testing the wonders of nuclear power
Article one question two: Both tobacco (along with tobacco products like cigarettes) and weapons such as guns, bombs, and nuclear weapons have been exported to other countries from the US, which isn't necessarily a good thing for them or for us.
ReplyDeleteActicle 2
ReplyDelete1.The tainted milk and baby milk powder has affect alot of Chinese people and babies, also this comtaninated milk could have gotten to other parts of the globe when they shipped it out.
2.Well if its from china and it has milk in it i am for surely not going to eat it because it may be contaminated and i could get ill. This made me more aware of what i am going to eat from now on but, if the chinese xhould have a better food testing systems. They did it because it was cheaper and well it worked but then people started to get sick and a few died from and its nobody but the chineses fault
Article 2:Tainted Milk
ReplyDelete(1)The information in this article fits our understanding for globalization because we realize that we are all affected by others actions even if it is indirectly. If some country has chemicals in their exports, than all the countries they were exporting the good to has to worry about whats in the good and if it could harm them.
(2)This article really makes me think where my food comes from because if china is intentionaly putting chemicals in their milk, than we don't know what else people are doing to are imported foods until we eat it.
Article 2:Question 1- This whole article is about how one contaminated product caused sicknesses in other countries, along with causing some countries to ban certain brands. This is an example of globalization because it affected not only those in China, but people in other countries too. Question 2- It's kind of a scary thought that producers would do something like that just to give their product a higher protein level. It makes me want to check more carefully where the things I consume come from and whether or not that place has a good reputation.
ReplyDeleteIt fits because it shows that things spread around quickly and that we don't always know what is in our food and it could harm us some day.
ReplyDeleteThis shows that globalization isn't just good it can also be bad in many ways that can harm people. This can lead to many bad things such as death.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me feel kind of sick that the milk killed babies but it also lets me be aware of something like that around hear and it lets me know to be cautious when I drink milk.
ReplyDeleteArticle 1, Question 1: This shows globalization because it's showing that the United States is beginning to spread the fast food trend to other countries which is making more and more countries have a higher obeise rate.
ReplyDeleteArticle 1, Question 2: The United States have spread cigarettes around which causes millions of casualties around the world each year, also the United States spread is the atomic bomb. When we used it on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, other countries that have WMD's have threatened to use them whenever their leader declares war and the other side won't give up, but if another one was launched, i think it would set a chain reaction off of nuclear bombs and eventually would kill all humans.
First off the fast food industry started out in smaller areas but then grew and spread across the world. It is an entire industry that works together shipping food and keeping down inflation. Second, 2 things that came from the U.S. is that smoking is cool. We use to portray all of the "hip" people in magazines, when those magazines should have came with a warning saying "We support lung cancer and various other health products that kill you." Another thing that is negative from the U.S. is how we allow pro-athletes to live above the law. Other countries see that and since the U.S. is such a major country, they copy that attitude towards their athletes and breaking the law
ReplyDeleteWe use to portray "hip" people smoking in magazines* sorry I butchered that sentence. And for the second article, it fits into globalization because China sends the milk to other countries and so they experience the poison as well. Plus the fact that this article was published in an American journal shows that we are communicating with the world about problems. It makes me glad that my diet allows me to eat mainly things grown locally and in the U.S. I honestly didn't know anything about this other than there was poisoned milk, it didn't really effect my life
ReplyDeleteThis article fits into our understanding of globalization because something happening in one place which in this case could be the milk with bad chemicals could then affect many other areas of the world just like the milk from china was shipped to different countries. This kind of worries me about other food products that we recieve in the U.S because as we recieve products from other countries we have no idea that something may be wrong with the food until it is to late (we die).
ReplyDeleteArticle 1
ReplyDelete1. This article portrays the possible negative affects of globalization. As fast food made its way around the world it also brought along with it neative health effects. For example in Greece many people have become obese, 3/4 of the adult population is obese, which is definitely not a small percentage.
2. A lot of technology that has been made in the U.S.A, that travels to other countries can get into the wrong hands and that info can be dangerous to the U.S. and other countries (weapons, nuclear, etc) Also tobacco has come from U.S.A. land, tobacco obviously is hazardous to people's health, etc.
Article 2
ReplyDelete1. China is one of the world's main producers in many different items and food. China definitely contributes to globalization. Since many countries receive China made things it would be hazardous to many people if something were to happen to the items received. This would be an example of a negative affect globalization has, where something significant (poison, disease, chemicals) could happen to a mass population.
2. This article makes you aware that these types of things could happen, and if these countries don't increase their security on their inspection systems it could be fatal. Hopefully, something that severe wouldn't happen but it does make you more alert and maybe apprehensive.
1.Most countries are striving to become more globalized and they usually take the United States as a prime example. That means fast food restaurants and candy shops.
ReplyDelete2. Bad eatting habits are becoming more common along with fattyer food distributed through fast food places and it is mostly thanks to the US.
1.Food comes from everywhere whether we like it or not. Many countries across the world export food into the US like China with the tainted milk/ baby formulia stuff.
ReplyDelete2. For the most part, I am a lot more conserned about the where abouts of my food while before, I didn't give a single ounce of worry to the orgin of my food.
This Made my understanding of globalization more secure in the way that I should know where things are coming from and what kind of food I am eating.
ReplyDeleteTwo things that have come from the US are technology and drugs because they have made negative impacts in other countries
Austin Noack.
ReplyDeletei think the article shows that fast food joints really dont care about their costermers and are just tryen to earn money. the food is extermaly bad for you and can cuase a lot of health problems. its cuases obesity. but yet millions of people eat it everyday. the food most people eat is lacking in all our vitamins and minarials we need in a day. and all the food that is good for you is getting more and more expancive. and none of it can get served right to you like fast food. the food in america has changed a lot. and its getting worse and worse.
two things that the usa and cuase a negitve efect would be our cars. and out life style in genral. we use the most oil in the world. and almost everything we make has oil in it. but i think cars a big problem in the world. we depend on them so much. and we dont really need them for everything. in some cases its nice to have a car. but in others. we just dont really need them. they polute the world and cuase many problems. i think if the weather is good. there is always ways to avoid driveing. if you bike, run, or even walk. it save the world and is better for you health. i think cars are another reason for obesity. there an excuse for people not to exercise. even if people car pooled it would be better for the enviroment. i think the usa depends to much on cars. america has become lazy. and we depend on way to many thing that we do not nesscaily need. and we use these things all day everday. we need to turn around and try to fix our country.
Austin Noack
ReplyDeletethe second article show globaliztion bcuz the the milk in china killed people. and milk is in every country. the bad milk could have got shipped anywhere. and i think it just shows that we shouldnt rely on other countrys as much. it would save us money and a lot of worry about being cut off if we could just do it all for ourselfs. and it makes me want to think twice before eating anything. you dont know where it came from.whats in it. if its bad for you. or anything about it.
The first article about obsesity rates in Greece that are getting higher. Its an example of globalization because greeks use to be pretty healthy and eat healthy foods, but due to globalization, they are eating more and more fast foods then they are there healthy foods.
ReplyDeleteThe first article (2)
ReplyDeletelot of technology is made in the united states. and if it gets into the wrong hands of a person, it could cause alot of dangerous things. such as people having guns-nuclear weapons. Tabacco was also made in the usa, and that is really bad for your health
1. Alot of food is exported into the USA. and aton of it, or a big protion of it is from china, and that is where the tainted babyformial and milk and things were from.
ReplyDelete2. I am mostly concered about where my food has been, i never really use to care
( article 2 )
-marcus
ReplyDelete- the first article shows how the globalization of fast food restraunts is taking a toll on the people eating all that food. europeans are constantly getting unhealthier.
1. the weapons we gave to afhganistan had a negative impact on us
2. tobacco has had negative impacts on other countries peoples health
-marcus
ReplyDelete-the second article shows how globalization can negatively affect imports on food. this article makes me think a little about what I'm eating and where it comes from. Because i want to eat clean food.
The first article shows the understanding number 2. Before those countries were doing great now since the bad food is being globalized people are getting more obese and unhealthy.
ReplyDeletetwo other bad things are
-certain types of drugs
-soda, gatorade and those types of things
it fits into the understandings because everybody is affected because not only people in china are being harmed but people all over the world are being affected.
ReplyDeleteIt kind of scares you because you dont know what other products you might be eating that have harmful things in them
1. How does this article fit into our understandings of globalization?
ReplyDeleteThis article is showing that the globalization of food is causing people in the meditteranean are going from their healthy habits of fruits, veggies, and fish; to fast food and sugar because of globalization. They are taking in other food from around the world causing them to become obeise.
2. List and describe two other things that have come from the US and gone to other countries that you think have negative impacts.
I think that the weapons that we have created and used in the past have negativly impacted many other countries, because now they think they should be able to make them and everyone haveing all these weapons is not a good thing. We have also started some of the major usage of tobacco and now it is effecting tons of people all around the world, both physically and mentally.
Article 2.
ReplyDelete1.How does this information in this article fit into our understandings for globalization?
This is dealing with the globalization of food and technology. The Chinese have figured out a new way to pass dairy products with this fake protien type stuff and then it gets transported all over the world; This caused health problems.
2.How does this article make you feel about knowing where your food comes from?
Even though my family and I always get our food from the US and safe brands, it makes me really worry if other compainies well resort to that, and when you go out to eat you really have no idea what you are eating which, after reading this article really freaks you out.
